Anyone that knows me, will know that I intensely dislike credit cards and indeed the current credit/debt system. One only has to listen to the news, look at the world economy, and listen to the topics of conversations on most peoples lips. Yes, I know it was NOT the fault of the credit card system per se, and yes, people should make better use, and be more responsible with their credit cards. But, it is nonetheless symptomatic of the credit/debt system, and the seemingly laid back attitudes to debt that made it possible for the current worldwide financial crisis to occur.

Anyway. I was asked to create a 3-part set of “arty, wacky, colourful, plausible and yet realistic” (not the examples shown here, but you get the idea) credit cards for one of the largest credit finance companies. Call me hypocritical, but hey that’s life. I was completely honest about my misgivings with the marketing people at the company. They said “We really do understand your concerns!” ... and then, increased the already large fee (typical for this kind of work) they had previously offered for a very quick, yet finicky job.

It was ‘an offer I could not refuse” ...

The job (similar to the dummy example shown above) was completed in one very long day, a few client sketches and about 20 phone calls.

The client was very happy, and overall, I guess I am as well...
